Q. I like Asian guys but they never notice me. What do Asian guys like?
A. Ahhh yes the likes of Asians males has been a favorite conversation of mine and my friends, male and female. Overall, Asian-AMERICAN guys like the same things that all other men like in their women. So it begs the question, so why don’t they date women outside their race. There are however 3 takeaways (there are probably more but I only remember in 3s) about why Asian men don’t date outside their race:
1) Assumption that non-asian women aren’t interested in us. Ever wonder why you don’t see Jackie Chan or Jet Li get the girl in the end? Save the world with bare hands plausible. Get laid by round-eyes, not so fast there Chinaman. 2) Lack of social assertiveness aka the nice-guy syndrome. A barrier to us Asian guys no matter the race but is magnified due to takeaway #1. 3) Cultural acceptance. Many Asian men are brought up to behave within a well-defined social order and that being different isn’t as rewarding as discipline and harmony. Pros: a strong sense of family and community (you got 3 Asians and you got a [insert Asian country]-town). Cons: being different will result in banishment. I kid, but having your mom constantly nagging you about not dating a “nice, Asian girl” is a close second.
This all leads to Asian guys going for the safest, low risk option: Asian women. It’s a jungle out there and even the majestic lion hunts the slowest and weakest of the herd.
