
Some time ago I read and heard about Researcher Songpol Somsri of Thailand’s Horticultural Research Institute engineering an “odorless” Durian. “Blasphemy!” I yelled (well not out loud but in my mind I did). Today there was a NPR piece about onions being engineered to be “tearless.” I don’t get it. What’s wrong with food with some character? A durian by any other smell wouldn’t be a durian.
On a related note, Big brother was at again and trying to educate me about what Banana Republic was before it sold flat front chinos– Imperialistic Corporate America. Wait…has it changed that much.
